Parents and Grandparents (PGP) Program

grandparents

The Parents and Grandparents (PGP) Program in Canada is unique in the world. It allows families to reunite here, giving them the opportunity to thrive in this country. Family reunification is important in attracting, retaining, and integrating immigrants who contribute to our country’s success.

Using the same random selection process as in previous years, IRCC will send invitations to potential sponsors who have already expressed an interest in sponsoring their Parents or Grandparents. This will allow interested sponsors to bring their parents and grandparents to Canada. Invitations to apply will be sent to the e-mail address provided when submitting an Expression of Interest to sponsor Parents or Grandparents.

Those who have been invited to apply as part of this process will be able to apply for Permanent Residency for Parents or Grandparents.

What is the minimum income required to sponsor my parents and grandparents?

You, the sponsor (and your co-signer, if you have one), must demonstrate that you have sufficient income to support all of the people for whom you will be financially responsible once you become a sponsor. This includes you.

If you are invited to apply, you must show proof that you have met the income requirements for each of the three tax years preceding the date you apply.

Until you apply (if invited), IRCC cannot determine whether you meet the income requirements.

Please keep in mind that for the 2024 process, IRCC will assess sponsors based on their income for tax years 2023, 2022, and 2021.
